how it works

How does SunDibs work on a pool deck?

A guest claims a lounger from their phone, confirms arrival at the lounger itself, and a claim nobody honours releases itself. SunDibs is a patent-pending lounger management platform for hotel pools, resorts and beach clubs. Guests claim a lounger, confirm at the lounger within a set window, and unconfirmed beds return to everyone.

step 1

How does a guest get to the pool map?

short answer
They open a web page, usually from a QR code on the room card, in the room, or on a poolside sign. There is no app to download and no account to create. The page shows the property's own deck with the loungers that are free right now.

Because the entry point is a link, a property can print it, post it, email it with the booking confirmation, or hand it over at check-in. Nothing has to pass an app store review before the season starts.

Easy

The deck is a photo of the pool with lounger positions drawn on it during setup.

Pro

The same map, with positions confirmed by the markers on the loungers themselves.

step 2

How does a guest claim a lounger?

short answer
They pick a lounger on the map and claim it. The screen states the arrival window before they commit, so the rule is visible at the moment of the decision rather than buried in house terms nobody reads.
Easy

Loungers that sit next to each other on the drawn layout are offered together for groups.

Pro

Adjacency is measured by the markers, so a group of four is genuinely four in a row today.

step 3

How does the property know the guest actually arrived?

short answer
The guest confirms at the lounger itself, not from the sun bed they are walking past. Confirmation is a deliberate act at the right piece of furniture, which is what makes the claim worth anything to the next guest in line.
Easy

The guest scans the QR label on the lounger to confirm arrival.

Pro

The guest taps the marker with their phone, or scans it, whichever they prefer.

step 4

What happens when nobody turns up?

short answer
The claim expires at the end of the arrival window and the lounger returns to the deck automatically. No member of staff removes a towel, and no guest is told anything by a person, so the confrontation has nowhere to happen.
Easy

The release is enforced by the platform while the property is online.

Pro

A poolside gateway keeps arrival deadlines running even if the property connection drops, and reconciles when it returns.

step 5

What does the pool team do differently?

short answer
They work from a console rather than patrolling the deck. It shows what is claimed, what is confirmed and what has been released, and it carries towel and bar requests with the lounger number already attached to them.
Easy

A morning reset clears yesterday's claims, and the team checks the map after the deck is rearranged.

Pro

The map corrects itself as furniture moves, so the daily check is shorter.

step 6

Can a guest book a lounger that will be shaded later?

short answer
On Pro, yes. The markers' solar panels double as light sensors, so after a week on the deck the property has a shade pattern for its own pool and a guest can ask for a spot that is shaded at 15:00.
Easy

Not available. Easy has no light sensors, so there is nothing measuring shade.

Pro

Shade is learned from the deck's own readings and offered as a booking option.

Common questions

Does SunDibs need hardware on every lounger?
Only on Pro. Easy is software: a photo of the deck, drawn lounger positions, printed QR labels and arrival by scan. A property can start on Easy and move to Pro later without redrawing anything.
How long does it take to go live?
An Easy deck can be photographed, drawn, labelled and live in an afternoon. Pro adds the time to mount markers and place a gateway, which is usually a day per pool.
What if a guest does not have a phone?
The pool team can claim, confirm or release any lounger on the guest's behalf from the console, and the guest can recover a claim later with their surname and room number.
Does SunDibs watch or identify guests?
No. There are no cameras, microphones or pressure pads, and nothing on the deck identifies a person. SunDibs tracks claims, furniture and usage, not identity. On Pro venues with markers, each marker senses when its lounger is moved or used so the deck map stays accurate, but it records no personal data and is not used to monitor who sits where.

SunDibs is in its first pilot season. Where this page gives a number, it is either sourced or labelled as a target.
