shade mapping · pro only

Book the sun. Or book the shade.

Shade and sun mapping is a Pro feature: it needs the solar markers, so it isn't part of Easy. A lounger under a palm at 11am can be in full glare by 3pm. Each marker watches the light on its own lounger, so over time the system learns the difference between fixed shade (a wall, a tree, a cabana, reliable at the same hour week after week) and intermittent shade from a parasol that only counts when staff confirm it's out today. Until a pool has enough readings of its own, the shade view is clearly labelled as modelled rather than measured, because nobody is shown a prediction dressed up as a fact.

Every marker is quietly a light sensor.

The same solar panel that keeps the marker charged reports its illumination every few minutes. Over a week, that turns into a per-lounger shade curve. Before that week is up, the curve you see is the model's shape rather than your pool's own light, and it says so on screen.

Fixed shade (walls, trees, cabanas) shows up as the same dark patch at the same hour, week after week, safe to book days ahead. Intermittent shade from a parasol is only offered once staff mark it open for the day, so "shaded at 15:00" never overpromises.

Once your pool has its own readings, asking for "shaded at 15:00" holds a spot that will be shaded at 15:00, even if it's in blazing sun when you pin it at breakfast. Ahead of that, the system offers shade as a modelled estimate and labels it plainly, in the guest app and on the staff console alike.

how we read the light
  • fixed shade

A wall, a tree, a cabana. The marker sees the same dark patch at the same hour, day after day. High confidence, so we can promise it weeks ahead.

  • intermittent shade

A parasol that goes up in the morning and down at lunch. The marker sees shade at 11:00 on some days but not others. Flagged as variable and only offered when staff confirm the parasol is out.

  • moving shade

The sun's own arc, shade slides predictably east to west across the deck. Modelled from the pattern across neighbouring markers.

Small feature. Huge for repeat guests.

For fair-skinned guests

A shaded lounger from 12-4 is the difference between a lovely afternoon and a burnt one.

For babies and elders

Reliable shade turns 'we should probably head back' into 'let's stay for lunch'.

For sunbathers

Book the loungers with the most guaranteed sun, same system, opposite query.

See it on your own deck.

Shade mapping comes with Pro, since it reads the light through the markers. A week of readings is all it takes. Until they're in, the shade view is labelled as modelled, then guests can ask for shade the way they ask for a sea view.
